On-call room
An on-call room is a room with either a couch or a bunkbed intended for staff to rest in while they are on-call or due to be. On-call rooms are common in hospitals or police stations where staff members will frequently work themselves to the point of exhaustion.
On-call rooms in media
On-call rooms frequently appear on television due to the evocative image of a sleeping doctor/police officer.
- On the NBC sitcom Scrubs, the doctors will often sleep in the on-call room.
- On the NBC drama Law & Order: SVU, detectives will "crash" in the on-call room while working.
