Magnesium orotate, the magnesium salt of orotic acid, is a mineral supplement. Orotate is the mineral form of orotic acid. Orotic acid is found in milk and in the human body. Orotic acid provides the materials used to make energy. It is used by the body to make nucleotides. Nucleotides are compounds that make up DNA and RNA.
Magnesium orotate has many cardiovascular health benefits. A 1998 clinical study showed that magnesium orotate helped running, swimming, and cycling. Magnesium orotate helps cells survive. Magnesium orotate helps the heart function. Magnesium orotate helps left ventricular function. Human study shows that magnesium orotate improved the survival rate of people with congestive heart failure.
