The male:female ratio of appearance of Aseptic meningitis is around 1:1. There are approximately 8,300 – 12,700 cases of AM / year in the U.S., however this is likely a gross underestimate due to under reporting.
- There is a marked seasonal variability, similar to that of enterovirus, which is the most commonly diagnosed cause of AM.
Incidence
Aseptic meningitis is relatively common, with an incidence of around 10 in 100,000 per population.
